Vol. 52, No. 3
New Horizons Christian Church exists to make more and better followers of Jesus Christ. We want to help you develop a growing, personal relationship with God through Jesus. And, we want to help you build good relationships with other people, especially those who are in your family and those in your church family.
New Horizons wants to be the church God wants us to be, following what the Bible teaches. We want to be real, relevant, and relational. In so doing, we will be the hands, feet, and heart of Jesus in our world.
SEE US ON THE INTERNET
As announced on January 10, we are expanding our internet ministry. In recent days, we have set up a page on Facebook, and opened accounts on YouTube and Vimeo. In the near future, we will launch a brand new website, which will be used primarily for outreach.
What’s more, you may notice a digital video recorder in the rear of our worship area on Sundays. We have been conducting tests for the past few weeks, but this Sunday we will start video recording and posting the videos as part of our GodCast Videos on our church website (www.NewHorizonsChristianChurch.org). If you are unable to attend one of our worship celebrations, you will be able to see and hear the message on the internet as our GodCast Video. Also, people around the world will be able to watch them. This will help our outreach.
If you would like to see a sample trailer for our GodCast Videos, click here.

Well, the Super Bowl is over and it is time for that grand ole pastime to get started - “BASEBALL!” At the end of next week, pitchers and catchers will start reporting to spring training. The Men’s Life Group is planning a men’s and kids’ baseball event for Saturday, March 27th at 1:05 PM in Kissimmee. We will go to see the Houston Astros play our own Florida Rays. We are trying to keep the cost to $25 per ticket. So, if you are interested in baseball or just some good fellowship, you are welcome to join the group. Please contact Todd Leda at todd.leda@lmco.com or tleda@yahoo.com with the number of tickets you would like to reserve for purchase. We need a head count by Saturday, February 27.

NEW CLASS FOR MIDDLE SCHOOLERS: On February 7, we began a new Bible class for middle school students during our worship celebration at Westbrooke Elementary School. The class starts at 10 AM each Sunday. Zach Steele is leading the class and Christopher McGarry is assisting him. Along with our elementary school class taught by Christine Steele, this new class will give families more options for teaching their children about Jesus Christ and the Bible.
PHIL’S FOCUS
WORSHIP CELEBRATION: We had a wonderful day of worship last Sunday as the Voices of Praise from Florida Christian College led us in singing praise to God and Tyler Lowe, a senior at FCC, brought us a message from God’s word. Plus, the attendance was very good.
Let’s not forsake our worship assemblies. We miss God’s blessings, when we do.
PREPARATION FOR NEW HORIZONS’ 50TH ANNIVERSARY: We are preparing for a wonderful day to celebrate our congregation’s 50th anniversary on Sunday, April 18. Actually, the church officially began on April 10, 1960, but our celebration will be a little later than our birthday. (For those who heard previous announcements, this is a new date. It was changed from April 11.)
I want to thank Barbara Jones for spending many, many hours going through our church records, trying to put together a current mailing list for our previous members. We don’t have everybody’s address, but we have quite a few. If you know any of our former members, please ask them to contact our church office for exact details about our plans. We want to get the word out to as many former members as possible.
After we have our worship celebration on April 18, we will enjoy a carry-in dinner around 11:45 AM. Then, we will have a Remembrance Program at 1:00 PM, followed by a time of fellowship and desserts.
A NEW DAY @ NEW HORIZONS: The future growth and vitality of our congregation will come from our individual relationships with Jesus Christ. As the strength and vitality of the human body begins at the cellular level, so the strength of a body of Christians begins with each of us. Consequently, I encourage you to grow close to God in your personal life for your own benefit, as well as for the sake of Christ’s church.
Even the numerical growth of our congregation depends as much on each member, as it does on me. Christ has called all of us to make more followers for Him. And, the best and simplest way to do that is for each of us to make friendships with people who need a relationship with Christ. Then, let them see and hear Christ in our lives, as we interact with them over time, loving them with His love. Eventually, God will give us the opportunity to ask them to commit their lives to Christ. All of this is done intentionally, with prayer and forethought.
I believe that God is working to bring an exciting future to New Horizons. I believe that a new and brighter day is dawning. Will you help be part of it?
Remember, God loves you and so do I.
Phil
