The West Orange Ministries of the Christian Service Center has several programs designed to offer a hand up, not a hand out to those less fortunate in West Orange County. Their goal is to touch the inner soul while addressing the physical needs of each client. Their ministries include:
Daily Bread
Providing a nutritious, noon-time meal three times a week (Tuesday-Thursday). From newborns to the elderly, everyone who is hungry is welcome. Their desire is to feed the whole person–physically, emotionally and spiritually.
Thrift Store
Over 4,000 articles of clothing are given away annually to clients through their Thrift Store. Open to the community, the Thrift Store offers household appliances, linens, toys, books, as well as men’s, women’s, and children’s clothing.
Mothers Helping Mothers
Mothers Helping Mothers addresses the needs of financially challenged adults and their families by helping them to gain independence through work, education and vocation. As a complement to this life skills training program, an after-school tutoring program for students was added called Early Student Intervention Program.
Family & Emergency Services
Open each weekday, Family & Emergency Services offers assistance to families and individuals in need. This program helps clients with rent, utilities and other similar expenses, pantry items, toiletries, baby supplies, clothing, transportation and referrals to other agencies.
