Judah Tangshing is a native of Myanmar (formerly the country of Burma). Judah and his wife, Khaw, run an orphanage in Yangon, Myanmar. Currently Judah is raising funds to purchase an acre of land on which to build an orphanange. This land would cost approximately $10,000.00. In addition to the orphanage, Judah ministers to a church of around 50 members. Judah can be contacted at G.P.O. Box 914 Yangon, Myanmar.

Thank you very much for being strong and faithful prayer partners, supporters, and OSP sponsors. Because of your prayers and support, we are able to serve the Lord in Myanmar through our 2 orphanages, the Bible College in Yangon, and our house church in my village. Your prayers and support inspire our hearts and I praise God for you every day!
Ministry Update: Because of your support and God’s faithfulness, we have been able to share the gospel with unbelievers and have baptized 14 people this year in Wireless and 5 in Jung Byaw. We praise God for bringing in the harvest! One very effective outreach was our Vacation Bible School. For five days in April during Myanmar’s traditional water festival, we offered this Christ centered and fun program and had over 120 in attendance. The water festival time is dangerous because some people drink too much and act very crazy. Last year three bombs were exploded in crowds and over a hundred people were killed during this festival. We felt that this would be the perfect time to offer a Godly alternative where we could keep people safe, have Bible study and also to teach them the living Word.
The orphans really enjoy pen pals program and they are excited whenever they get a letter or something from their sponsors in the USA. It is a good way to promote their hearts physically and spiritually. They thank you very much for writing to them. All of the orphans were tested for TB and we praise God that most were fine, but Sar Ram did test positive, so he is taking medicine now and he needs to take it for six months. Last month we had quite a scare when the Swine Flu spread rapidly throughout much of Myanmar, and about 2/3 of the pig population was wiped out. God was merciful to us and our mother pig survived, although she was very sick for 3 weeks. We depend on our livestock for food, and to lose a mother pig would have been very bad for us.
Some members of our Wireless church had surgery and both are now doing well. Mrs. San Kyi had an eye problem and is now able to see better. Mrs. Than Than Yi had a breast tumor and is now getting better. We had Mother’s Day celebration service last month and this month we had Father’s Day. They were both good services and well attended.
Our school year ended with grade exams including high school exams needed for graduation. We had 4 orphans who took high school exams, but only 1 from Putao scored high enough to pass and graduate. The 3 from the Yangon orphanage did not score high enough and now have the option of studying and retaking the exam.
We are pleased that we have seven students attending Bible College this year, and two of them should graduate at the end of this school year. Please remember to lift these future evangelists in your prayers. They represent hope for the future of our country.
Personal Updates: Our four children (John, Jonathan, Zamiwayne, Samuel) finished their final exams in June and they had a one month holiday. It was a very hard year for all of them because they were attending the Indonesian Embassy School in downtown Yangon so that they could learn English in an immersion program. John did well and has now started the 9th grade. Jonathan and Zamiwayne did not do well in their lessons and so they have to repeat the same grade this year, Jonathan in 4th grade, Zamiwayne in 2nd grade. Samuel is in Junior 3 this year. He was in Junior 2 last year. They had just a one month break between school years.
When our oldest son John was five, Khaw and I said to him several times that God will punish you if you do bad things. One day John said to us that he will shoot Him (God) with a gun when he gets older. It surprised us a lot, and we realized immediately that John had misunderstood what we meant about God’s character. We told Samuel that God gives us many good things, and that he is a loving and forgiving God as well as a God of truth and judgment. Then one day John said to us that he wanted to ask God into his heart and have him be his savior. It surprised us too. This showed us very clearly that the way we present God to our kids is very important. They are always listening to and watching us.
Prayer & Praise:
1. For complete healing of the orphan Sar Ram and the 2 ladies from our church that had surgery.
2. That the pen pal program is going well and please pray for it that the kids and the sponsors would continue to be blessed through it.
3. For the Bible students and new converts that they can learn the Bible, grown in Christian maturity, and live with integrity.
4. For God’s perfect timing that so that we can find and buy land for expanding our programs.
5. That our family can seek God’s will deeply in small things and then in bigger things for His kingdom growth.
God bless you.
Judah and Khaw
